Title: | Isolation and purification of a fatty acid binding protein in Giardia |
Keywords: | Key words: Giardia lamblia; fatty-acid-bonding protein. |
Issue Date: | 2002 |
Publisher: | Rev. Iber. Parasitol |
Abstract: | Abstract: For the first time, a protein capable of bonding to fatty acids has been purified and described in a parasitic protozoan. This protein has a molecular weight of 8 to 10 kDa and an isoelectric point of 4.96. The Scatchard analysis of the equilibrium data revealed a Kd affinity constant 3.12 x 10-8 M, when the labelled oleic acidwas displaced by unmarked oleic acid with a concentration 10-fold greater than that of marked. |
