ABSTRACT The title of this dissertation is, “Testimony and Witnesses in the Holy Quran - Objective study”. The significance of this dissertation stems from the fact that this is the first dissertation to compile most of the verses and subjects in which testimony and witnesses were explicitly pronounced in the Holy Quran. It consists of an introduction and two chapters. The first chapter consisted of five subsections. The first introduced the concept and meaning of the terms testimony and witnesses in the Holy Quran. Second, it dealt with The Almighty’s testimony which included His testimony through his name “Shahid” and through his characteristic “Knower of the Invisible and Visible. It also included His testimony of Himself and his worshippers. Third, it talked about Human testimony which included human testimony in the World of Covenant and His testimony of Him by Himself. Fourth, it talked about the testimony of the witnesses which included (angels, prophets, believers, and souls). Finally, it mentioned the testimony of the people of the scriptures and nonbelievers. The second chapter consisted of six subsections. First,it mentioned the faith testimony in the Holy Quran; it included the subjects of (pronouncement of testimony, testimony of God and testimony of justice). Second, it mentioned the abhorred testimony in the Holy Quran; it included concealment of testimony and false testimony. Third, it talked about testimony in documents which relate to topics in witnesses rights, testimony on debts, orphans wealth, witnesses onwife’s “Raj’a” (taking back of one’s wife) or separation between the couple, women testimony, and testimony upon will. Fourth, it talked about testimony in “Had” punishment of accusation of adulteryand fornication. Fifth, it talked about witness andwitnessed times in the Holy Quran. Sixth, it addressed testimony and witnesses in Quranic narration. The main findings in the conclusion indicated that God ranked a Muslim in a sublime position. If a Muslim testified for another alive Muslim, he would win God’s satisfaction thanks to preserving their rights. If a Muslim testified for another dead Muslim, then his testimony before God, would be highly regarded by God making the dead worthy of paradise. God the Almighty would distinguishhim on Judgement Day to testifyto the veracity of prophets– May peace be upon them. He will testify for millions of people from other nations whether they righteously or wrongfully followed their prophets. The main recommendations indicated the need to conduct field research including new scientific and practical proposals to provide full protection to witnesses as well as to put an end to targeting of witnesses by gangs. Their protection safeguards justice and regains rightsin the society.
