The notion of Electronic Health Record (EHR) and healthcare Information Technologies (HITs) related to the EHR have recently adopted by many countries. EHR facilitates sharing of patients’ data among healthcare providers, improves patient safety, and reduce healthcare delivery costs. However, many healthcare providers are unwilling and unable to use EHR and related HIT, as they lake competencies and skills necessary to use them. To overcome this gap, many initiatives in different countries have proposed to train healthcare providers to effectively use EHR and related HITs as well as to integrate the required competencies and skills related to EHR with undergraduate healthcare programs curricula. HiCure is an ongoing European Erasmus+ project that aims to develop and implement a competency-based health informatics pathway and integrate it with the undergraduate curricula of IT and healthcare programs in partner country universities. This paper present a case study-based approach to learn undergraduate students from partner countries how to effectively utilize EHR notion and its corresponding HITs, as part of the HiCure project.en_US
